First 5 Placer County

ProProse is the social marketing contractor for First 5 Placer County. We turn outcomes into news stories for local media based on the lives changed by the programs they fund in the community.

Background:

First 5 Placer funds community-based programs that encourage parents to be actively involved in stimulating brain development of their children ages 0 to 5 years. Programs help parents, caregivers and child care providers understand the importance of brain development in the first 5 years of life, and promote responsible practices that lead to children being healthy, well adjusted and ready for school.

Our Services:

Our services include community events, press releases, media relations, partnership development, website creation, collateral creation and paid advertising. We have produced many posters, brochures, flyers and an annual report in both English and Spanish. The most recent are a brochure and mini flyer for parents to help understand how to keep their children safe from the H1N1 Flu. We also developed the strategic marketing plan for the 2007 – 2010 funding period.

To add additional media value, we created a media partnership with KXTL Fox 40 to give visibility to First 5 funded programs on the morning news “Your Family” segment, including a link on Fox News’ website. Segments focused on kindergarten readiness and on fathers being taught parenting skills through a court-referred program.
